? #1

Should I extend all the paintings to take up the whole spread? (as in the Leaving Earth spread vs. the Mercury one) OR leave the division and keep the type in that area (black hand-written type on white)

And what type treatment for the accompanying facts would be better suited to this?
  • a light colour (white or gold/silver pens) on the dark space background
  • comic-book style call outs or speech bubbles
**sorry I don't have examples of these layouts will try and post tomorrow**

  1. If you extend all the paintings to take up the whole spread, where are you planning to have your text? I like the idea of having comic-style speech bubbles for the type, that way maybe you could extent your spreads and have the speech bubbles within the paintings.

I feel like having a light color on the dark space background would be too much along with the paintings, it might be overwhelming. So I say the viewer should focus on the paintings, and speech bubbles within will strengthen them.

  2. I think you should extend all the paintings to take up the whole spread because it would work best with your topic, being that space is so vast. Also, if you have a separate section for the type, I think they might look disconnected from each other. The speech bubbles could be really fun and I think it would go well with the humour you're using. White or gold pens could work nicely too, but I think it would be harder to implement because you would have to make sure you have enough clear black space.
